The 2022 fifa world cup takes place in Qatar from November to December. The tournament will see 32 teams compete against each other in eight groups. With the full schedule being confirmed after the finals draw in April 2022, lets take a look at exactly what that means.
How does the draw work?
The teams will be divided into four pots once all of the entrants are confirmed.
As hosts, Qatar will join the top seven sides in the FIFA World Rankings. The second pot will be made up of the next sides down the rankings and then again for the final two pots.
Once when they have been decided, the groups will be drawn ahead of the tournament starting on Monday November 21, 2022.
When is the final draw made?
Matches will only be assigned to particular venues after the finals draw, so organisers can choose optimal kick-off times to suit television audiences in different countries, as well as supporters out in Qatar.
The finals draw is scheduled to take place in April 2022, after the March window for international fixtures.
Who will be involved in the draw?
32 teams will be involved in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which includes nations from Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, Central America and Caribbean and South America. Qatar have already qualified for the tournament as hosts are automatically qualified and assigned to Group A.
Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, England, Switzerland and Netherlands have all qualified from Europe after winning their respective qualifying groups, with a further three nations still to be confirmed via the play-offs.
Brazil have sealed their place at the tournament, after winning 11 of their first 12 matches in South American qualifiers, while an unbeaten Argentina joined them after drawing 0-0 with the Selecao, with five games to spare.

To reach Qatar 2022 World Cup, the play off matches are due to take place from March 24 to 29.

How do the play offs work?
The qualification format was decided by the UEFA Executive Committee during. The play-offs will depend on results from the 2020–21 UEFA Nations League, although to a lesser degree than play-offs of the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying tournament.
Unlike previous editions, the play-offs will not be contested in two-legged ties. Instead, the twelve teams were split into three play-off paths - path A,B and C, each containing four teams.
Each play-off path will feature two semi-finals on 24 March, and one final on 29 March 2022. The winner of the final in each play-off path will then qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
